Matthew Weldon is the Rhode Island Director of Labor. Weldon assumed office on April 27, 2021. Weldon's current term ends on January 5, 2027.
Weldon began serving as the acting director of labor on February 23, 2021, following Scott R. Jensen's resignation.[1] Weldon was confirmed by the Rhode Island State Senate on April 27, 2021.[2] Gov. Daniel McKee (D) reappointed Weldon on January 10, 2023.[3]
Biography
Weldon received a B.A. in political science from the University of Rhode Island.[4]
Prior to his designation as director, Weldon had served the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training as chief of program development and assistant director. He also worked as an adult drug court manager on the Rhode Island Superior Court.[4]
