I am a self-employed musician, worship leader, stay-at-home mom of 4, and avid gardener who has a call from the Lord to help save America. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication-Theatre Arts and a minor in Musical Theatre from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. I've lived in Wyoming since 2010 and served on the town council of the town of Pavillion from 2017-2019, then serving as mayor from 2019-2020 before moving back to Riverton. I currently run the free food pantry for Foundations for Nations ministries and serve as the chair of the EDGE committee for the City of Riverton. I love this nation, have hope for her future and know that she can once again be truly free if we will bind the government down "by the chains of the constitution."
  • I am you. We need regular, virtuous, God-fearing, logical and practical people to once again fill the congress of the United States. We need someone who knows what it is to be on a budget and to live within their means. Someone who truly loves America. Someone who will uphold their oath to our Constitution. That is me.
  • We MUST have fiscal responsibility in congress again. We cannot keep printing and spending money that doesn't exist and expect our nation's economy to improve. If we want to curb inflation, WE MUST STOP SPENDING MORE THAN WE TAKE IN!
  • We need a new 3 R's in America. Revelation - Revival - Restoration. In short: a revelation of the state of our nation, of right priorities, and of real American History; a revival of spirit, soul, body, and logical reasoning; and a restoration of true Constitutional governance.
I am passionate about the federal budget, ending unconstitutional bureaucratic agencies, systematically repealing unconstitutional laws, passing The FAIRtax (HR25) and repealing both the 16th and 17th amendments to the United States Constitution.
I look up to George Washington, and I would like to follow his example. He was a man who devoted himself to the selfless service of our great nation and lead with humility, statesmanship, wisdom, and strength.
What guides my political philosophy is The Declaration of Independence, The United States Constitution, The Federalist Papers, The 5000 Year Leap is a good supplemental to the political philosophy of the founders, and what guides me personally is the Bible.
Virtue, Constitutionalism, Honesty, Transparency, Humility
I am honest, hard-working, humble, kind, loving, patient, and self-controlled (most of the time...maybe not when it comes to chips and salsa). I work well in stressful situations, am creative and an out-of-the-box thinker. I love to brainstorm and strategize with others to attempt real, working solutions.
To uphold their oath to the Constitution, and to represent their constituents accordingly.
I would like to leave this country in a better state than I was born into so that my children and yours and our future generations can continue to live in the liberty and freedom guaranteed to us by God and protected by the constitution from a wild and changing society and government.
The first truly historical (non-pop culture) event that I remember in my lifetime was 9/11/01. I was 18 years old and a freshman in college.
My very first job was as a self-employed harpist! I played for my first wedding when I was 12 years old, and I still play the harp...and I sing, play the piano, guitar, flute, and used to play percussion. As for my first job for an employer, I worked in the meat department at Bob's Produce Ranch, a grocery store in MN where I grew up.
I love the book "The Gospel Comes With a Housekey" by Rosaria Butterfield. It is a great biographical story about redemption, the radical love of Christ, and the simplicity of loving our neighbors as ourselves. It is a book that challenges your way of living and spurs you higher.
Probably Jo from Little Women. She loved fiercely, lived boldly and didn't let the opinions of others squash her dreams.
When I was in the throngs of raising 4 kids under 7, I struggled with anxiety. By God's miraculous grace and mercy, I was healed and live in freedom! I carry the peace of God with me wherever I go and like to remind myself that I am a thermostat, not a thermometer and change atmospheres because peace is my weapon.
I love that the House of Representatives changes as the culture changes. It truly is "the Peoples house." It is not supposed to be easy to pass legislation, because Americans are different and must come into agreement in order to get important things passed. I also think the House of Representatives should resume the responsibilities it has abdicated such as actually declaring war instead of letting presidents run amok in the world, coining our money and the standard for weights and measures by getting rid of the Federal Reserve (one of the most corrupt institutions), and actually producing a REAL budget, not just insanely bloated, ridiculous, pork-filled, Continuing Resolutions.
Not necessarily. All you really need is a knowledge of the Constitution, a virtuous spirit, and the ability to use reason and logic to make practical decisions.
Our biggest challenges are going to be helping people see past the division that the tyrants in our nation have caused in our society by learning to see one another's humanity not just our differences, combatting and overcoming the globalists that want to make our sovereign nation part of the world order, and getting our fiscal house in order.
I am most interested in the following committees: Budget, Ways and Means, Appropriations, Agriculture, Financial Services, Veterans Affairs and Natural Resources.
I think that reasonable term-limits are necessary at this time. Many may disagree and say that "we already have term-limits laid out for us in the constitution of every two years." To this I say yes, but the general apathy of the citizens of these United States to pay attention to who they are voting for, calls us to take action for the time being. Either way citizens will need to be engaged and educated on the candidates they choose. Good and bad.
Although he is a Senator and not a House Representative, Rand Paul is a bastion of fiscal conservatism, and finding the waste in government in order to expose it. I hope to be bold like him but pave the way for regular citizens like me to come in and make a real difference, not alienating myself from others like many members of congress currently do. It's time to get work done not hate on each other.
The citizens I speak to are concerned most about how they are going to survive the current inflation, the woke culture infiltrating everything, government overreach, and maintaining their liberty from a government that has, in general, pushed the constitution to the side. These are impactful concerns to me.
My 9yr old son is always finding silly poop jokes (of course) ... how about "What do you call a magical poop?" "Poodini" Bahahaha!
I do think that some compromise is definitely necessary as long as those compromises are still constitutional. We take an oath to uphold THE CONSTITUTION, not to line the pockets of companies, lobbyists, the donor class, unions, etc. Many legislators have absolutely gone against their oath.
As I said earlier, I am in favor of passing HR 25, The FAIRtax. It is the most practical, somewhat progressive, tax solution that is out there. Our current system is corrupted and broken. The FAIRtax is simple, transparent, and is revenue neutral, leaving the opportunity to fix the buget and lower the ultimate tax rate when that happens.. and you get to keep your whole paycheck.. It's a win-win! www.fairtax.org

Campaign website

Selvig's campaign website stated the following:

The Constitution

I believe that the Constitution is the second most important document in our country besides the Declaration of Independence. We must do all we can to uphold the constitution in every circumstance. It is a sound document that would still work as intended today if we were a country that lauded virtuous behavior, and applied its principles properly. Its brilliant design was to protect us from governmental despotism. The nature of man stays the same no matter how time changes. Power and greed have twisted our government into something I believe the founding fathers would be devastated by.

I agree with these words by Daniel Webster, “It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions…There are men, in all ages who mean to govern well; but they mean to govern. They promise to be kind masters; but they mean to be masters…They think there need be but little restraint upon themselves…The love of power may sink too deep in their own hearts…”

Liberty

The state of being free. A founding principle. We are all born with the desire for liberty. Self-governance is the key feature to exercising that liberty. Whether we use that freedom for doing good or evil, that is in our control alone. The government is supposed to be in place to protect our ability to live, work, and play freely within simple legal guidelines so we do not cause others harm. Laws should be simple and understandable so that anyone can easily read them and know what they are not allowed to do and have the freedom to do the rest. In the last verse of “America the Beautiful” Katherine Lee Bates penned, “…confirm thy soul in self-control; thy liberty in law.” We cannot be free if we, as well as our government, do not have self-control.

I also believe in the freedom to easily buy from your local farmer, and rancher. The Wyoming Food Freedom Act is an amazing piece of legislation that helps so many producers and consumers put healthy, locally produced food on their tables. I would like to encourage every state to have the freedom like we do here in WY.

Taxation

Our tax system is a mess. It needs serious reform and I am in favor of The FAIRtax, and would sign on as a co-sponsor if it should fail to pass this session. It is the most practical reform I have ever seen, and includes the abolishing of the IRS, all taxes on income, capital gains, death taxes, etc. We need to activate the grassroots on this one in order to educate our fellow citizens. www.fairtax.org It is my goal to promote, educate and pass The FAIRtax for a more free and more constitutional future for our country. Please also click this link to see my tax FAIRtax pledge. https://fairtax.org/the-fairtax-candidate-pledge-2022

The Federal Budget

The federal budget and its debt are some of the biggest issues currently facing of our country.

Our debt currently sits at more than 30 trillion dollars! That amounts to over $90,000 per citizen alive in America today. That is absolutely unacceptable! For too long our legislators have had no foresight into what endless printing of money will do to our economy in the long run. I do not believe in these endless omnibus bills and continuing resolutions passed year after year with no regard to the national debt, and interest thereof. I do believe in a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. It is congress’ JOB to make an actual budget. We must do the hard work of ignoring the lobbyists, cutting out all the wasteful spending, and slimming down the discretionary spending to a level that gets us on track to making sure our debt can at least get down to 90% of GDP by 2031. I am a big fan of Rand Paul’s “ 2 penny plan”, which would cut two pennies out of every dollar spent. Now, after all the COVID stimulus relief, it will probably be more like 8-10 cents on every dollar. It can be done. If we as citizens can’t spend without limit, neither should the government.

The 2nd Amendment

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. “ Pretty simple. We have had to defend our home from an intruder with one of our weapons. This one is personal. All citizens should continue to have the right to defend themselves, from others and from tyranny.

The Value of Life

Psalm 139:13-18 “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they were all written, The days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them , they would be more in number than the sand;”

All human life is valuable; pre-born to death bed. I will always defend a person’s right to life especially if they cannot speak for themselves. We must defend the unborn, and encourage citizens and charitable organizations, not the government, to support women with an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. Working in coordination with the private sector, we must also find a way to make adoption more affordable.

Family

The nuclear family is the backbone of society. When the family structure deteriorates, so does the culture. I believe in promoting (but not mandating) healthy family values; i.e. encouraging two parent homes whenever it is possible, valuing education, healthy eating, clean living, mental-health counseling when necessary, etc.

Immigration

America is a beautiful country founded by immigrants. My family came here from Sweden in the late 1800’s and my husband’s, from Norway at the same time. I have friends who are naturalized citizens, some who are still working the citizenship process, and some who are here on student visas. I value what our LEGAL immigration system provides for others to come here to work, live and study. On the flip side, I do believe in strong border protection, and illegal immigration policy. Trafficking of drugs and humans is an ongoing problem. I was pleased with the work President Trump did working with our Mexican and Central American neighbors in regards to the caravans of people trying to escape here. Those agreements should not be discontinued, nor should the border wall construction be halted.

I’m a firm believer that if we cannot even take care of our own poor, homeless, mentally ill and drug addicted Americans, we should absolutely not have an open border, or an “all are welcome for any reason at any time” policy. Our own people need jobs. Our own people need homes. Our own people need practical, short-term assistance. Once we can help our own people find a stepping stone out of poverty, then we can open up carefully to more of the world.

Education

I am a firm believer in a well-rounded education. I do not believe that pre-K-12 education should be run by the Dept. of Ed. I am in favor of ending that agency, which would help the federal budget, as well as provide total state and local control. The more local the control, the better the outcome in most cases. Every part of the country has different needs, and a one-size-fits-all system isn’t good for students. I see the problems it causes often in my children’s schools. I am for school choice and think private and charter schools are a great option with great track-records for high learning outcomes.

When it comes to the University system in America, I believe we must stop spending billions of dollars on Colleges and Universities. Especially ivy league schools that already have endowments in the millions and billions. They should be able to run off of their tuition alone. Along with that comes student loan reform. I had one, in addition to a small grant, and it helped me go to an affordable college, so I do know the value, but the more the government pays out in student loans, the more the higher education system raises its tuition. It is an endless cycle that isn’t good for the Federal budget since our legislators can’t seem to stop spending.

Energy

Energy is a vital resource for Wyoming and America, especially considering we have a wealth of resources right underneath our feet. Our federal government is in the way of our production. Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution gives the Federal Government no such right to interfere with the energy industry in America and therefore it should be relegated to the States or to the People. I will advocate for the abolishment of the Department of Energy and the EPA on a federal level, which will include the ending of all subsidies to all energy corporations, renewables, biofuels and fossil fuels alike.

Censorship

As someone who has been censored for no reason at all by “big tech” other than for stating my political opinion calmly and rationally, praying live, and saying the word “patriot”, this one hits close to home. Contrary to popular opinion, speech is NOT violence. It can in some cases cause it if people have no self-control, but it is not, in and of itself, violent. Our first amendment guarantees us the right to say and believe what we would like. We should not be prevented from speaking what we believe. Not in a K-12 school, not in a university, not on social media, and not in the halls of our government.

Tribal Awareness and Accountability

Truly, the most forgotten people of America. Since I work with a ministry that serves on our local reservation, I believe it is important to educate the American people about the issues regarding housing shortages, homes without water, homelessness, poverty, abuse, and addiction, and coordinate with schools, mental health centers and charitable organizations to better serve our great indigenous peoples.

The Federal Government should also collaborate and coordinate better with tribal organizations to make monetary accountability and transparency, important as other governmentally funded organizations must also do the same.

The Environment

Is the climate changing?

It always has.

Are we causing it?

Most likely not.

Do we have a responsibility to care for the environment in a reasonable way?

Absolutely, but we must continue to use innovation, not regulation to help care for our planet, and also encourage other countries to do the same. America alone does not pollute the planet. Neither can she save it alone.

I also believe in promoting proper forest management, multiple use lands, delisting animals that are no longer actually endangered, letting states decide what is an appropriate way to cull problem animals.[3]
