Sheriff Bill Mullen (D) won re-election without opposition in the general election after defeating George Satler (D) in the May 16 Democratic primary. Council incumbents Tom Baker (R), Patrick Catena Jr. (D), Charles Martoni (D), and Bob Macey (D) won re-election. Challenger Anita Prizio (D) defeated incumbent Edward Kress (R) in the District 3 race, while Robert Palmosina (D) won the District 12 seat without opposition after defeating incumbent Jim Ellenbogen (D) in the primary.

A primary election was held on May 16, 2017. The filing deadline for county offices was March 7, 2017, while the general election filing deadline was August 1, 2017.
