Montana Rights and Remedies for Injury or Damage, CI-30 (1986)

The Montana Rights and Remedies for Injury or Damage Amendment, also known as CI-30, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in Montana as an initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure authorized the legislature to determine the rights and remedies for injury or damage to person, property or character. The measure required a two-thirds vote of each house to set dollar limits on damages for economic loss resulting from bodily injury.[1][2]
Aftermath
The Montana Supreme Court ruled this measure as failed in 1987 due to material constitutional defects.[1][3]
