On November 7, 2000, Edward M. Kennedy won re-election to the United States Senate. He defeated Jack E. Robinson (R), Carla A. Howell (L), Philip F. Lawler (Constitution), Dale E. Friedgen(Unenrolled) and Phillip Hyde (Timesizing not Downsizing) in the general election.[2]
