Laura Morett was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 20 of the Oregon House of Representatives.[1]

Campaign themes

2016

Morett's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Jobs & Economy

Nearly every year our state government changes the playing field for doing business. Entrepreneurs in Oregon are required to get more licenses and certifications than in any other state. These requirements go beyond the level of keeping the general public safe and create unnecessary barriers for small businesses to succeed and employ people, forming the foundation of a healthy community.

If elected as your State Representative, I will look at each bill and ask the simple question “Will this law make it easier or harder to create jobs in Oregon?”

Schools & Education

This should not be a debate about teachers vs. taxpayers. This is about making sure our kids have the best education we can give them. I believe that local control and local engagement is the best way to work our way through these issues, beginning with making sure that the money we spend is used effectively.

Government Transparency

It’s time to put special interests in their proper place, end payouts to political allies and work according to the highest ethical standards. I am committed to working across party lines to do what is best for the Oregon people, not politicians.[2]
