Lois Bloom is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She was first appointed to this position on February 23, 2001, and her current term expired on February 22, 2025.[1]
Education
Judge Bloom graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1981 with a B.A. degree. She then earned her J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1985.[1]
Professional career
Judge Bloom began her career as a staff attorney for the West Side SRO Law Project representing the poor in housing court. She then joined the Pro Se Office of the Southern District of New York, where she worked for 13 years. At the time of her appointment to the U.S. District Court in 2001, she was the senior staff attorney of this office.[1]
