I am a wife, mother, educator, and someone who lives to serve her community. I am a compassionate conservative, which means that I am cautious when writing or passing policy and like to think about the potential unintended consequences. Politics should be a service to your district, state, and country. Your representative should always put you and the district ahead of any personal agenda.
  • Our Montana values need to be upheld in the next legislative session. We are a live and let live state, or as I call it "Get off my lawn" politics. The government should not be telling us what to do.
  • It's time to get back to basics in Montana politics, which means taking care of the regular business of the state: lowering taxes, supporting agriculture, funding our public schools, maintaining infrastructure, and keeping the church and state separate.
  • Education is so key in our rural communities across our state. It is the heartbeat and it needs to be funded as such.
I am passionate about school funding, reducing property taxes, and renewing Medicaid expansion. Our schools are the heartbeat of our communities and need to be funded like the essential service that they are. Our rural hospitals depend on the funding from medicaid as much as Medicaid patients depend on it for essential healthcare. It keeps our communities healthy. Our families are suffering under the current cost of property taxes and we need to dust off our Montana values and lower them back down.
I consistently look up to my Great-Grandmother Virginia, my husband's Grandma Joy, and my Dad. My Great-Grandmother Virginia was a powerhouse who loved her people fiercely. She didn't always have a lot of tact, but she made up for it in truth and love. Grandma Joy is the ultimate example of joy, forgiveness, and faith. Grandma Joy, despite losing two of her children before her death, one to SIDS and one to Pneumonia as an adult, did not possess an ounce of bitterness. She was so graceful and loving without sacrificing her edge. Finally we have my Dad, he is a consistently principled man of integrity. He has always put his family first and never waivered in that conviction. I can always count on my Dad to be there for me and to have a good conversation about politics, history, or how to fix anything with.
I love Sharon McMahon's take on politics and history. She is on instagram as @sharonsaysso
The ability to listen, think creatively, advocate for what is important, and to work hard for their communities.
I can find common ground and connect with just about anyone, I love people!
To listen to their constituents and advocate for them and their best interests while working hard with fellow legislators.
I want to leave a legacy of love, caring, and service.
I think the first major historical event would be 9/11. I was 12 at the time and I will never forget it.
My first job was babysitting. I have always loved working with kids and have had so much fun getting to know them.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Little Women is a timeless piece of literature that gets better as I age.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast. That library!
Definitely something from Taylor Swift"s The Tortured Poets Department.
They should be a team both seeking to pass good legislation in the best interest of the people of the state.
Increasing taxes and increasingly difficult and expensive production in agriculture.
It is helpful to have a background in how government budgets and funding work, but it is not essential.
Absolutely. Working together is how the job gets done and how the best legislation comes forward, especially when working with people across the aisle. Legislators should be the best example of working together and crossing the aisle.
I admire Lisa Murkowski, John McCain, and Liz Cheney. They have integrity and passion.
Several. I am always touched by the willingness of people to come forward and tell me what matters to them. I love hearing the stories and how I can serve the people of our district.
The checks and balances put forth in the constitution should be the guidepost for emergency powers.
I would like to begin on the funding formula for public schools or property tax reduction first.
Education and the Health and Human Services committees.
The government should be as transparent and accountable as possible while maintaining national security.
I don't see a need to change the process. The people should always have direct access to their government.
