Bowerman ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Oregon's 5th District. Bowerman was defeated in seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 6, 2012. Bowerman was defeated by Fred Thompson in the Republican primary to unseat Rep Kurt Schrader (D).[2]
