My name is Jack Bates, I live in Thayer, MO and have lived in Oregon County for the last 34 years. I am widowed and have four living children and one deceeased. All attended school in Oregon County.

I was born in Putnam County, MO and attended elementary school there. I graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I also have an AAS in Nursing from Excelsior College. I also held a Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic license for 20 years. I was the youngest department head ever at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, managing the Emergency Department and Emergency Medical Services. While there I also taught Emergency Medical Technology at Northeast Missouri State University. I joined the Air Evac Lifeteam in West Plains, MO in 1986 when there were nine of us and a helicopter. When I retired in 2020, we had become Global Medical Response, the largest medical transportation company. I am a member of the Board of Directors of Ozarks Medical Center, Development Board of Missouri State University-West Plains, Board of Director of the Child Advocacy Center and Galloway Park Board.

I served as a board member of the West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce and received their Volunteer of the Year and Citizen of the Year awards.
I think Ronald Reagan was one of the best if not the best presidents ever. I would like to emulate him saying that big government is not the answer to our problem but it is the problem.
To represent the people of the district, not their own values or ambition
That I had the best interests of the voters interest in everything i did
I worked in a full service gas station while in high school. I had that job for three years.
Not really, life is a struggle you have to adapt and overcome
The house is larger with more diversity of ideas and creates more bills. The senate is smaller and filters a lot of the house's ideas.
Not necessarily. The legislature should be representative of the state's population.
Creating good paying jobs, providing top notch education and making infrastructure changes in transportation and communication.
I believe they should have the same set of goals and objectives and work together to accomplish those.
I believe that it is beneficial to have good relationships with other legislators to better understand their values and priorities and work together to accomplish everyone's priorities.
I believe there should be a bipartisan committee .
I would like to serve on the Health Committees as that is my background. I would also like to serve on the Professional Registration Committee to make changes in the way some professions are regulated.
I really admired Jerry Litton, former US Congressman and candidate for US Senate before his untimely death.
There are many stories of citizens experiencing problems with the bureaucracy and legislators and staff helping them navigate and getting things done.
