Suspension and Censure by South Dakota Senate (2023)
A staffer alleges that State Senator Frye-Mueller asserted her child could “get Down Syndrome or autism” if given a vaccine before proceeding to make lewd remarks and hand gestures regarding breastfeeding on January 24, 2023.[3] On January 26, 2023, Frye-Mueller was suspended from the South Dakota State Senate indefinitely, removed from her committee assignments, and barred from voting on senate business.[4] After a Select Committee on Discipline and Expulsion was formed to investigate, Frye-Mueller was censured and reinstated on February 1st, 2023 by a vote of 31-1.[5] Denying the allegations, State Senator Frye-Mueller said after her censure "I think that I've been treated absolutely terrible. I'm humiliated that you all ran me through the wringer, that you publicized stuff that you didn't even know was true. You didn't even give me a chance. You hid everything from me."[6]

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
