Joy is a lifelong Rhode Islander who’s never sought the spotlight but has been hard at work, behind the scenes, working for the families of Rhode Island. As Director of Communications and Community Relations for Congressman Langevin, Joy helped cut bureaucratic red tape to get veterans their benefits, seniors their Social Security, and workers access to affordable health care. As Director of Communications for Governor Raimondo, Joy was instrumental in expanding all-day kindergarten and winning investments in workforce development and bridge and

road repairs.

  • Ensure families can afford to live and work in Rhode Island by bringing down health care and housing costs.
  • Protect women’s health care and fight to reinstate access to all reproductive services.
  • Demand equal pay for women, paid leave for workers and caregivers, and raising the minimum wage.
We need to provide better supports for our family caregivers. To do this, we need to expand access to community supports and we need to pass a permanent paid leave program that is accessible to all workers. We learned during the pandemic that paid leave works for employers and families. Joy knows firsthand the challenges that family caregivers face. Her mom is her dad's primary caregiver as he struggles with Alzheimer’s. Paid leave is critical for the health and financial security of our families.
