The Iowa Effective Dates of Legislation Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Iowa on November 4, 1986, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure allowed the Iowa Legislature to specify effective dates for laws and repealed the requirement that some laws be published before taking effect.[1][2]
