I have lived in Wayne for 35 years; this is my first run for public office. I care about people and pledge always to put people first. I believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. I want everyone in our beautiful state of Maine to thrive. In the past 30 years, I have led and managed statewide nonprofits' finances. I am frugal and understand budgets and the need for responsible spending. My values include justice, fairness, equity, civil and human rights for all, hard work, personal responsibility, and kindness. With my partner, I run a home-based business making and selling sourdough bread. I serve as treasurer of Temple Beth El in Augusta and have led successful capital campaigns for the Temple and for Cary Memorial Library in Wayne. I also chaired the library’s board of directors for 10 years. I have a 30-year-old daughter, enjoy growing vegetables and flowers, love small towns, relax by porch-sitting and stacking firewood, and my favorite season is fall.
  • I believe that as citiznes and neighbors, we can builid a strong communty by looking out for one another and working together to solve problems. When we listen to each other, help one another, and have honest conversations, we can find common ground. I pledge to always speak with you respectfully and truthflly, to listen openly, and to be responsive to the needs of individuals in Leeds, Turner, and Wayne.
  • To strengthen our ecomomy, and allow for everyone who wants to work is able to, we need to improve our insfrastrucure for child care, broadband, elder care, and affordable housing. I will advocate for all families--parents, children, and seniors.
  • I believe that health care is a human right and I will work to ensure that everyone has access to affordable health care.
Make sure that every person can meet their basic human needs, with enough food to eat, access to health care, and a safe place to call home. I care about environmental sustainability and our response to climate change and that we need to take action to protect our access to clean drinking water. Continued investment in our education system, including teachers and staff, and taking lessons learned from the pandemic to improve educational systems to meet the increasing needs of students. We need to incentivize the building of more affordable, energy-efficient housing to meet the needs of working families, and we need to invest in child care and elder care. I also would like to see our voting laws strengthened. Let’s ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote and participate in our democracy in a way that works for them—either in person or by mail.
I admire the life and work of Lois Marie Gibbs. She was a woman who lived near the infamous Love Canal in upstate NY. In response to a crisis of environmental pollutants in her water, in 1978, organized a community group to advocate for her family and other members' health. She went house to house to talk to her neighbors about their health problems and ultimately made the connection between the poisoned Love Canal directly to health effects seen in her family and others. She, and the Homeowners Association, successfully worked to have the government allocate funds so all the residents near Love Canal were evacuated. This courageous "housewife" went on to lead a national environmental organization that advocates for people facing environmental health threats.
