An effort to recall George Cromer, a member of the Republican Party, from his elected position representing District 90 in the Louisiana House of Representatives was launched in the spring of 2012.

In May 2012, teacher and Slidell City Councilman Jay Newcomb filed a recall petition against Cromer for his support of controversial pension and school voucher programs. In order for a recall election to be scheduled, organizers would have had to collect signatures from one-third of registered voters in the district within 180 days.[1]

On June 25, Newcomb notified the Secretary of State's office that he was stepping down as chair, but said the recall would continue.[2]

In October 2012, the Secretary of State's office said the petition drive failed to collect enough signatures.[3]
