An Elk Grove Direct Popular Election of the Mayor, Measure K ballot measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot for voters in Elk Grove in Sacramento County. It was approved.

Measure K means that voters in Elk Grove will directly elect their mayor rather than the mayor being appointed by the city council.

  • No: 9,030 (21.74%)

The question on the ballot:

Measure K: Shall the electors elect a mayor and four city council members? A “Yes” vote means the citizens directly elect the mayor; a “No” vote continues the practice that the council chooses one of its members to preside as Mayor on an annual basis.[1]
