Campaign themes
2014
Forrest's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Protecting Schools and Taxpayers
- Excerpt: "She will fight to restore the building subsidies that Monroe’s schools so desperately need to take the burden off its taxpayers. Instead of chasing after the same tired ideas that have failed to achieve property tax reform, she will work for a freeze or rollback of property tax levels for seniors; and provide needed relief to owners of primary residences."
Fighting for Jobs and a Living Wage
- Excerpt: "Drawing on her high-tech experience, Liz has a plan to create new, good-paying jobs by establishing Monroe and Pike counties as a world-class hub for research and development. And with Pennsylvania women still earning less than men for equal work, Liz will fight to close the gap, providing benefits throughout our local economies."
Protecting the Environment
- Excerpt: "Liz will work to protect the rights of localities to regulate drilling activities inside their own borders, and prevent irresponsible gas drillers from destroying our water supplies and tourism industry overnight."
Accountability and Integrity
- Excerpt: "Liz puts aside personal and partisan priorities to serve the people. She knows this job is more than just a series of photo ops and flashy appearances, or newsletters full of excuses for failure. She will be accountable to you and not party bosses."
Making Tom Wolf Effective
- Excerpt: "When Tom Wolf is elected governor, he will need a state legislature backing him in order to heal the damage that has been done to Pennsylvania by Gov. Corbett’s disastrous policies. Sending back the same legislators to Harrisburg who oppose his vision and the ideas he proposes will help neither Tom Wolf nor taxpayers. We need Tom Wolf and Liz Forrest working together in Harrisburg."
