My name is Erin Royer and I'm running to represent District 12 in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Since moving to Sioux Falls to work in heath care, I've learned how kind and practical the people of South Dakota truly are. We deserve a government that reflects those same values. I promise to work hard for you, and with you, to create a thriving economy and a successful society where people are safe, welcome, and valued.
  • South Dakota's legislature does not always prioritize the real-world needs of South Dakotans. A vote for me is a vote for a representative who will stay focused on the issues, not special interests.
  • As a healthcare provider, I have experience reviewing complex information and working with people to find a plan that works for them. I'll bring those skills to Pierre.
  • I promise to work hard for you and with you to address the issues facing our state and our community. I won't be controlled by outside groups or special interests.
I am passionate about where the rubber meets the road, those policy issues that affect people's lives such as education, rights, economic development, environmental stewardship, and healthcare.

EDUCATION: a free, safe public education is the right of every child. In order to provide for that right, schools need the staff and the resources. Our teachers are some of the lowest paid in the nation and as a result we are losing qualified teachers to other states.

THE ECONOMY: South Dakotans deserves a thriving economy, and we have many of the resources and tools to make it happen. We can leverage these resources and the tremendous work ethic of our people to create a workforce that includes and benefits all of us.

OUR RIGHTS: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are the rights our country's founding fathers identified. As a society and as a state, we need to ensure every citizen's rights are protected - particularly the rights of the vulnerable and the under-represented. People whose rights are protected and clearly outlined are better able to fully participate in our society and our economy.

HEALTH CARE: With the right to life comes the indisputable right to services to keep us healthy and alive. This year we have seen first-hand how crucial our health and healthcare are to keeping our economy running. A population cannot thrive without access to adequate care and an economy cannot thrive without a healthy workforce.
Elected leaders should always remember they have the privilege to serve their communities. They should hear their constituents, make sure they are accessible, and be transparent in their decision making.

I believe that a practical approach and kindness, when combined with a sold work ethic make for an elected leader that will strive to do their best for their community.
