|Upon college graduation, I moved to Roswell in 1995 and started a 25+ year career in Information Technology. I have worked on projects for small businesses and Fortune 500 companies all over the US leading teams of 10+ members, including off-shore resources. I've worked on systems for telecommunications, billing, customer service, retail, airlines, and third-party integrations. I became a naturalized US citizen in 1999. I enjoy volunteering in my community. I have served on the board of my HOA, helped the PTAs of the 3 Fulton County public schools my children attended, have done canvassing, voter protection and voter registration.
To demonstrate my love of civic duty, I have been a poll worker for Fulton County in multiple elections. I have participated in many events as a peace marshal, friendship ambassador, and I especially enjoy helping as a Spanish-English translator for various non-profits in the state. I have been married to Scott since 1995 and have two adult children.- I have a 20+ year background in Information Technology. We do not have enough technologists in the legislature. We need people with my expertise to check that money is well spent, that updates are done to the existing systems, that they are secure and dependable. IT is ingrained in everything: schools, education, telemedicine, government services, elections. I have the experience to evaluate proposals, check for feasibility, and indicate where more help is needed.
- I am a woman and an immigrant from Mexico. The Georgia Legislature needs more women, POC, and Hispanic representation. If we want the legislature to be truly representative of the state, then we must elect candidates that represent the demographics as well.
- I have been an activist for many years. I started as a PTA and HOA volunteer, and once my children grew up, I moved on to voter registration, voter protection, poll working, out-reach to Hispanic and other underserved communities, even being a peace marshal during march and protests to help keep everyone safe. I'm ready to serve the residents of the State, and happy to do it at a greater scale, benefiting more people.
In her essays she combines transcripts from documents with her observations and even some pop culture references, showing how government is lead by people, not mythical figures, humans just like you and I.
Just like we learn and we train for a new job, learning to be an effective legislator can be done quickly by the right newly-elected candidate.
