I live in Clayton, in the Northeast Georgia mountains of Rabun County. Georgia has been my home for over 40 years. As a proud graduate of Georgia State University with a master's degree in Employee Assistance Programming, I am excited to bring my skills and passion for coalition building to the Georgia State Assembly.

For the past 20 years, as a volunteer leader in my community, I identified the need and spearheaded several successful bipartisan coalitions. I reached out to Republicans, Progressives and Democrats to form the Rabun County Coalition for Good Government (RCC4GG.com). Our mission is ""good government-openly accomplished"". We continue to bring accountability and transparency to our local governments. In 2016, I was a leader in the revitalization of the Rabun County Democratic Parties in northeast Georgia.

In my four decades corporate career, I've eliminated wasteful spending, improved productivity, and increased customer satisfaction in the financial, , education and healthcare industries. I retired from General Electric (GE) and presently work as a management consultant for several of America's biggest businesses.

As your state senator I will follow Joe Biden's motto of ""I will always choose hope over fear, unity over division, truth over lies, and science over fiction.""

  • Expand Medicaid. Georgia has lost out on billions of federal dollars, and it is reflected in half a million Georgians with no healthcare coverage, our rural hospitals closing and people's insurance premiums going up. We have 38 states have already accepted this expansion. I want to save our rural hospitals by expanding Medicaid and make a family doctor available to every family. The argument that ""we cannot afford it"" makes no business sense. Let's not allow politics from preventing us from receiving the funds we deserve. •
  • I advocate for a new approach in creating our annual State budget.to bring in more revenue from potential sources and reduce the gigantic slashing of education and healthcare funds. The almost two decades of the Republican approach has focused on making Georgia ""#1 for business"" leaves our citizens, our police, our teachers, and our kids a distant second. Georgia is ranked 46 for our health care system, 30TH in Education, 39th in economic opportunity and 42nd in Poverty Rate. We must do better.
  • I have plans for our district that are not based on anyone's political party affiliation. If I am elected, I will focus on impro. I have plans for our district that are not based on anyone's political party affiliation. If I am elected, I will focus on improving the overall quality of life for everyone, in all the communities across District 50. , I would bring my wealth of business expertise to our state government. I will bring my ""I mean business"" approach to your family's needs, not to the lobbyists' or big business demands. My proven capacity to do this is grounded in four-decades working as a senior leader for some of America's largest corporations, including General Electric (GE) Healthcare and GE Financial Services, to name a few.
Our biggest challenge in America and Georgia is the vicious partisanship at all levels of government. The consequences of this partisanship are hurting all of us. I will bring my years of coalition building and business expertise to the State Capitol. I will listen to other points of view, strive to break through the partisanship, and work across the aisle to pass legislation to address the serious issues facing our state and nation.

I have demonstrated a steadfast ability to create and transform organizations. I have learned firsthand that through in forming coalitions open to everyone, people find a way to solve their problems. Send me to the Gold Dome, and I will do the same thing for northeast Georgia.

The General Assembly makes the laws for all Georgians. One of the most important duties of a legislator is to create the annual budget. Nothing impacts all of us Georgians more than laws passed and the funding provided in the annual state budget.
Senator John McCain. He was a war hero, a dedicated father and husband. He always worked for the good of all the citizens. His willingness and his ability to "work across the aisle" is needed right now.
Elected officials must have an open mind so that they listen to all points of view.

Elected officials must be able to cooperate with fellow legislators, their constituents and be effective communicators.

I believe being a coalition builder is a vital skill for this role and I am proud to say I am a coalition builder in my community and in my work career.

I would like to leave the legacy of improving the Georgia State Healthcare System. Even now, in this pandemic, Governor Kemp and the GOP legislators continue to focus on industries and their political agenda above the health of Georgians.

Georgia's rural hospitals have been underfunded and closing for years under Republican leadership.

For the past decade, this leadership has refused billions of federal dollars for healthcare (via Medicaid Expansion). Our taxes go to 38 other states who have accepted Medicaid Expansion. Georgia is consistently ranked in the bottom ten states for its health care system performance. We need a balance focus on both businesses and the health of us - Georgia citizens.

A recent survey by the Georgia Public Policy Institute stated that the majority of Georgians are in favor of our government spending more funds on education and healthcare. It is time Republicans and Democrats team up together to improve our healthcare services -including mental health and programs to mitigate the opioid crisis.
Georgians need to work together to find common sense solutions to provide affordable healthcare, to create jobs to fit the new economy, build the infrastructure for high speed internet, save the US Post Office, enforce term limits , and a put together a state budget that works for everyone, not just big businesses.
I do not believe one has to be experienced in government to be an effective legislator. I do believe one's previous experience in community work and one's career is important to being a successful government leader. I am experienced in leading coalitions both in my 20 years of community volunteerism and in my career. We need leaders committed to listening to all points of view and coming to a consensus on practical solutions to the challenges of our state.
