Recall reports

An effort to recall Clarence Sharp from his position as a school board member of the Monroe City School Board, Louisiana, was launched in December 2011.[1] The recall effort was abandoned.[2] Sharp represents District 4. His term is set to expire in January 2015. Monroe City School Board member Verbon Muhammad has also faced recall efforts.

Recall supporters

Jimmie Diggins was the chairman of the recall effort and Brenda Freeman is chairman. Diggins said, "I don't think he is doing what he should for our children. We need to get somebody who is going to stand up for our children and do what needs to be done."[1]

Path to the ballot

A formal recall petition was filed in December 2011 with Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler. Recall organizers had 180 days from December 20 to collect the signatures of one-third of the registered voters within District 6.[1] Recall organizers never submitted signatures, and the recall effort came to an end.[2]
