Yaoxochiquetzal Citlalli Johanna Duran Decker was born in El Paso, Texas and was raised on the outskirts in the towns of Montana Vista, and Socorro. She graduated top ten percent of her class in 2009 from the same high school as both of her parents, Socorro High School. She is also a proud alumni of the International Thespian Society and of Full Sail University.

Being raised in the desert of a border town by her working class family, instilled in Jo the values of hard work, compassion and self-reliance. She went on to work and live in Los Angeles, California, Austin, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio before moving to her husband's hometown in Hawai'i. She has traveled through most of the United States, sometimes on a mission, sometimes on a whim, all by working as a low voltage technician and picking up other side jobs.

Johanna believes in fair pay for fair work, respect of all human rights, learning from all cultures and the magnificent power of love and faith.
  • Our current system of government needs serious troubleshooting and/or upgrading.
  • The people's views should be represented in legislation.
  • It is time to send a technician to legislation.
The application and misapplication of the statutes in relation to human rights, property rights and taxes.
I look up to Taj Tarik Bey, Mark Passio, Kumu Mike Lee and Carl Miller because each in their own way has shared their knowledge with others to help people empower themselves.
Book:

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

Youtube videos:
Taj Tarik Bey - What is Law and What is not Law
Mark Passio - Natural Law

Carl Miller - Know Your Constitution (Parts 1, 2, and 3)
The principles of Natural Law: Do no harm and take no doodoo. Also known as "Do not do unto others what you do not want done to yourself."
A representative must represent the will of the majority and ensure it does not violate the rights of the minority.
I hope to leave a legacy of justice, equality, compassion and love for all people in the work that I do for the people.
I remember when Selena died. I was 4 years old. Then Princess Diana died when I was 6 years old. 9/11 happened when I was 10 years old.
My first job was as an Event Technician for the school district. We would set up and run the audio/video/lighting systems for different events around the district ranging from meetings, performances and sports events.
Daniel Quinn's book Ishmael changed my whole perspective on society, culture and the way humans go about business on planet Earth.
I would be Esmeralda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Disney version.
The Schuyler Sisters' from Hamilton, The Musical because the lyrics:

I've been reading Common Sense by Thomas Paine
Some men say that I'm intense or I'm insane
You want a revolution? I want a revelation
So listen to my declaration:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident
That all men are created equal"
And when I meet Thomas Jefferson
I'm 'a compel him to include women in the sequel! Work!

When I was younger, I had a hard time loving and caring for myself. Once I stopped trying to live up to society's standard of beauty and expectations, life became so much easier and infinitely more enjoyable.
No, average people from all walks of life should be elected to office because the diversity of views will bring new insights.
Budget cuts will be needed after this Covid crises but people have become so dependent on extra government services that learning how to tighten the belt will be tough for many. I think the way forward is to allow communities to take care of themselves and each other without over government interference.
Checks and balances with the common goal of protecting the people while not violating the rights of the people.
It is always good to be on good terms with coworkers. There can be civil discussion without rudeness.
There is no easy way to equally draw the lines but I would suggest drawing 1 mile square blocks and grouping the blocks to districts as evenly as possible based on population.
I have heard so many stories of what is needed in my district. They all have touched my heart and I aim to bring all their ideas and concerns to legislation.
