Charles S. Lopresto
Charles S. Lopresto is a justice on the New York Supreme Court 11th Judicial District. He was elected to the court in 2012 and his term expires in 2026.[1]
Education
Lopresto received his B.A. from Saint John's University in 1977 and his J.D. from the Pace University School of Law in 1980.[1]
Career
Lopresto began his career in 1981 as a private general practice lawyer. The following year, he became a principal law clerk working for state Supreme Court Justice Charles Cohen. He then served as principal court attorney to Civil Court Judge Joseph Risi from 1995 to 1997. He became a principal law clerk again in 1997, serving Civil Court Judge Jeremy Weinstein until 2006. Lopresto joined the Queens County Civil Court in 2007 and became the supervising judge in 2009. He served in this capacity until joining the supreme court in 2013.[1]
2012 election

Lopresto was elected to the 11th District Supreme Court. He was one of five candidates competing for three seats in the general election on November 6, 2012. He was the only candidate in the race cross-endorsed by the Democratic and Republican parties.[2][3]
