Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Townsend's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Education: High dropout rates. No Child Left Behind Act has failed our children. Money being spent foolishly.
  • Housing: Housing unaffordable for most young adults and low income workers. White collar workers actually rent because it is too expensive to buy. Property taxes increase with no end in sight. Elderly reverse mortgage to pay for the cost of living.
  • Healthcare: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or, colloquially, Obamacare, is a "crime".
  • Environment: The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident on 11 March 2011 continues to kill our Pacific Ocean and our Nation's food supply with high levels of radiation. The Aliso Canyon methane gas leak carbon footprint has been referred to as larger than the Deepwater Horizon leak in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Business: We need more tax concessions offered to encourage business investment and provide jobs for the residents in enterprise zones.
