Calvert Magruder (1893-1968) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit. He joined the court in 1939 after an appointment from Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Prior to appointment, Magruder was a university lecturer. He assumed senior status on June 12, 1959 and served until his death on May 22, 1968.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

First Circuit

He was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 24, 1939 to replace George Hutchins Bingham. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 1st, and received commission on June 3rd. From 1948 to 1959, he was the chief judge. On June 12, 1959, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on May 22, 1968.[1]
