Cathleen Galgiani
Cathleen Galgiani (Democratic Party) was a member of the California State Senate, representing District 5. Galgiani assumed office on December 3, 2012. Galgiani left office on December 7, 2020.
Galgiani (Democratic Party) ran for election to the California State Board of Equalization to represent District 2. Galgiani lost in the primary on June 5, 2018.
Galgiani was a Democratic member of the California State Assembly, representing District 17 from 2006 to 2012.
Biography
Galgiani's previous professional experience includes working as chief of staff to Assemblywoman Barbara Matthews and as a physical therapy aide at both Dameron Hospital and San Joaquin General Hospital.
She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Child Abuse Prevention Council Auxiliary of San Joaquin County, advisory member of the Crime Victims United of California, and member of the High-Speed Rail Committee of Merced.[1]

The candidate filing deadline was February 25, 2016, for candidates filing with signatures. The deadline for candidates using a filing fee to qualify was March 11, 2016.[2]

Galgiani was a potential candidate for California Secretary of State in the 2014. She filed a "Statement of Intention" for the race but ultimately did not go through with a primary bid.[7][8] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

Galgiani ran in the 2012 election for California State Senate District 5. She and Bill Berryhill (R) advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, defeating Leroy Ornellas (R). She defeated Bill Berryhill (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[9][10][11]

In 2008 Galgiani was re-elected to the California State Assembly District 17. Galgiani (D) finished with 77,525 votes while her opponent Jack Mobley (R) finished with 39,480 votes.[13] Galgiani raised $1,023,172 for her campaign fund.[14]
