An effort to recall Mayor Curtis McCoy in Mansfield, Louisiana, from his position was launched in October 2014.[1] As of December 2015, this recall effort appeared to be abandoned and Ballotpedia discontinued active coverage. Please contact us if new developments occur with this recall effort.
Recall proponent arguments
The leader of the recall, JoAnn Atkins, targeted McCoy for a number of reasons. Among them were: allegedly using his position as mayor to identify land that was headed for sale due to unpaid taxes, a city council vote forcing her to remove an improperly placed mobile home in 2009 and the closing of her business Superior Event Hall in 2014. Although Atkins could not vote in the recall or sign the petition because she lived outside of the city's limits, she stated that she had a say in city affairs because she owned a business there.[1]
