Bill Meier
Bill Meier was a justice on the Second District Court of Appeals (Place 2) in Texas. He won the primary race for this position in March 2008 and then ran unopposed in the general election the following November.[1] He was re-elected without opposition in 2014.[2][3] He stepped down from the position in January 2019 as he reached mandatory retirement age.[4]
Education
Justice Meier received an associate degree in science from Tarleton State College and his B.S. from the University of Texas. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1966.[1]
Career
Meier began his legal career as a public defender with the Dallas Legal Services Organization. In 1969, he moved to Fort Worth and began practicing as a business lawyer, focusing on banking, real estate, corporate, and trial practice. From 1973 through 1983, he was a Texas State Senator, representing Tarrant County. After this, he worked in private practice until he was elected to the Court of Appeals in 2008. He spent the last 22 years of his private practice as a solo practitioner.[1]
