Brian Kroshus (Republican Party) is the North Dakota Tax Commissioner. He assumed office on January 4, 2022. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Kroshus (Republican Party) ran for re-election for North Dakota Tax Commissioner. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Kroshus was appointed to the position of North Dakota State Tax Commissioner in 2021 by Gov. Doug Burgum (R) to replace former Commissoner Ryan Rauschenberger(R).[1] He previously served on the North Dakota Public Service Commission.
Kroshus was a 2016 Republican candidate for state auditor in North Dakota. He announced his candidacy at the GOP headquarters in Bismarck on November 17, 2015.[2] He ultimately did not file to run in the primary election.
Biography
Brian Kroshus earned a B.S. from North Dakota State University in 1986. Kroshus' career experience includes working as the publisher of the Bismarck Tribune, the group publisher of Lee Agri-Media, an executive team member and division leader with Lee Enterprises, and the state operations manager with Forum Communications. He has served on the board of trustees with the Missouri Slope Areawide United Way, Bismarck State College, and the Sanford Health Foundation.[2][3]

Kroshus was appointed to the position of North Dakota State Tax Commissioner in 2021 by Gov. Doug Burgum (R).[1]
North Dakota Public Service Commission (2017 - 2021)
Kroshus was appointed to the North Dakota Public Service Commission by Governor Doug Burgum (R) on February 28, 2017, and assumed office on March 20, 2017. His appointment filled the vacancy created by former officeholder Brian Kalk, who resigned in January 2017 to accept a position with the Energy and Environmental Research Center at the University of North Dakota.[4]

Kroshus announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for auditor in October 2015. When Kroshus was asked if he would run in the June primary even if he did not get the party's endorsement at the state convention taking place April 1 to 3, he said that he was concentrating on winning the endorsement.[2] Josh Gallion received the party nomination and ultimately ran unopposed in the primary election as Kroshus did not file to run.
