Alabama County Courts, Amendment 1 (1950)

The Alabama County Courts, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 7, 1950, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the legislature would not establish any branch courthouse or any division or branch of any court of record to be held at any place other than the county seat, nor shall the legislature abolish any branch courthouse now existing or abolish any division or branch of any court of record now existing, unless such proposal be first submitted to a vote of the qualified electors and is approved by a majority.[1]
