I am a servant, leader, veteran, entrepreneur, and family man. As a child, I escaped persecution in communist Vietnam. My family risked our lives to flee to America where we became citizens, and I started building my own American dream.

I graduated from the University of Kentucky and joined the Kentucky National Guard, and later commissioned as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer. After moving to Texas in 1992, I began work in the telecommunications field and started my own multi-million dollar telecom company.

Blessed with success, I then put my energies into inspiring other immigrants to embrace the American dream.

My long record of service to my community includes leadership in multiple businesses and community-based organizations. In 2010, I was elected to the Tarrant County Commissioners Court, becoming the first Asian American to serve as Commissioner in Tarrant County. During my tenure, I was widely recognized for my leading role in and contribution to transportation, healthcare, mental health, information technology, and effective governance.

I have been in the shoes of many of Tarrant County’s citizens and would like to make a difference in people’s lives by helping make Tarrant County more successful in the pursuit of its mission.
  • Making County Government Work for You – I firmly believe in representative government, where the will of the people is the guiding force... not special interest groups and bureaucrats. Transparency breeds visibility and enables accountability in government. As your next Commissioner, I will proactively engage with the taxpayers and elected officials to build more transparency and accountability into the operation of Tarrant County. I will hold regular town halls in various locations of the precinct, keep an open door policy to be accessible, present and visible for residents of Precinct 2. I will make sure that the underserved communities get the attention they need and deserve.
  • Supporting Law Enforcement/Stronger and Safer Communities – I will provide law enforcement agencies with adequate resources to fight crime, maintain order, and keep violent criminals out of our neighborhoods and in jail where they belong. I will also support existing and new diversion programs to rehabilitate and treat people with mental illness and addiction. I believe in the importance of investing in programs to improve trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
  • Building a Strong Economy – In order to keep our economy thriving and the quality of life improving in Tarrant County, it is imperative that we keep our tax burden low and invest in our infrastructure. Better transportation in Tarrant County and North Texas means workforce mobility, commercial access, logistical movement of goods and supplies, and better jobs. Additionally, the tax burden should not become a threat to your dream and livelihood. As property appraisals and costs of living rise, we must work to lower tax rates, hold the line on spending, and look to cut wasteful expenditures. Property taxes must be appropriated wisely based on priorities to minimize the tax burden on property and homeowners. As the population of Tarrant County
Crime and drug abuse are on the rise in our county, threatening the safety of our families, schools and neighborhoods. As Commissioner, I will back our law enforcement and justice agencies to make sure that our communities are safe. But there are other related issues which must be addressed, as well. Mental health issues continue to be the underlying issue contributing to crime, violence, abuse, homelessness, and suicide, especially in the wake of the COVID shutdown.

I will engage with JPS, MHMR and other mental health institutions to promote awareness of symptoms of mental health concerns such as depression: how to prevent it and how to obtain treatment for it.
I will also work to support diversion programs to help keep mental health patients out of the county jail and justice system.
Equally important, I will work to provide outpatient or interventive mental health services in the local clinics to help our families and law enforcement agencies deal more effectively with mental health issues.
A strong community is a united community, where local leaders, law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and mental health agencies can effectively communicate and work together to create the best possible outcomes for the citizens.

As your next Commissioner, I pledge to make this a priority at the county level.
I look up to my father because he sacrificed his life and career for me, my siblings and family. He literally gave up everything and devoted his entire being to guiding his children to become successful servant leaders.
The fall of the Republican of Vietnam when the communist soldiers in full battle gear arrested my father (who was a banker) and took him away. I was 8 years old.
I worked for 4 years as a dishwasher, busboy, and waiter at a restaurant during my college years.
