Three seats on the Wilson County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on August 7, 2014. Zones 2, 4 and 5 were up for re-election.
All three incumbents filed for re-election of their seats. Zone 2 incumbent Bill Robinson and Zone 5 incumbent Larry Tomlinson ran unopposed. Challenger Linda Armistead defeated Zone 4 incumbent Ron Britt.

Wilson County Schools is located in Wilson County, Tennessee. The county seat of Wilson County is Lebanon. Wilson County is home to 113,993 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Wilson County Schools was the ninth-largest school district in Tennessee, serving 20,075 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[2]
Demographics
Wilson County overperformed in comparison to the rest of Tennessee in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 25.9 percent of Wilson County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.5 percent for Tennessee as a whole. The median household income in Wilson County was $61,353 compared to $44,140 for the state of Tennessee. The poverty rate in Wilson County was 9.3 percent compared to 17.3 percent for the entire state.[1]

up for election to four-year terms in 2014, and one seat was up for special election to a two-year term.[4]
The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was April 3, 2014, and the deadline to withdraw was April 10, 2014.[5]
