Wes Riddle

Wes Riddle was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 25th Congressional District of Texas.[1]

Riddle's campaign website listed the following five issues:[2]
- Budget
- Excerpt: "Many families and businesses are making cuts and other hard choices when it comes to balancing their budgets. Why should government be any different? We now owe more than $14.3 trillion, that’s more than $46,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States."
- Education
- Excerpt: "Not only has government forgotten the purpose of education, it has forgotten its own purpose too! There is room enough for freedom to have competing systems of education."
- Energy
- Excerpt: "It is high time that this great nation develops a plan that will lead us to energy independence. Being energy independent is vital to the well-being of this nation and to our national security. As global demand for energy expands at a dramatic rate we must have a real course of action that will produce real results for Americans."
- Healthcare
- Excerpt: "Repeal Obamacare and replace it—there’s no justification to transform the entire health care system in America—how about getting at the problem: deal with the few million uninsured, reduce costs for everybody through common sense solutions."
- U.S. Border Security
- Excerpt: "My step-son Danilo recently arrived in this country, having just emigrated from the Philippines—a long journey and his first plane flight. It took us 17 years to follow the process legally. His mother and I are most assuredly not for amnesty of illegal aliens."
- Obama impeachment
- Riddle is campaigning on a platform that involves impeaching President Barack Obama. He has promised to begin the impeachment process as soon as he enters Congress, because of a treaty in which Obama ceded seven islands in the Arctic Ocean to Russia. In actuality, the island were ceded in 1991 under President George H.W. Bush.[3]
- Riddle also stated that he wanted to impeach Obama because of "President Obama’s abuse of power and blatant disregard to the Constitution."[3]

2012
Riddle ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Texas' 25th District. He and Roger Williams defeated Bill Burch, Dianne Costa, James Dillon, Dave Garrison, Justin Hewlett, Charles Holcomb, Brian Matthews, Ernie Beltz, Jr., Chad Wilbanks and Michael Williams (Texas Commissioner of Education) in the Republican primary on May 29, 2012. He was then defeated in the subsequent runoff.[4][5][6][7]
