I have worked consistently to put Fort Wayne first in a life of service to the local community. I was elected to represent Fort Wayne’s Third District on City Council in 2003 after defeating twenty-year incumbent Tom Henry.

On council I never shied away from making tough decisions and standing behind them, like supporting the once-controversial Harrison Square development that brought Fort Wayne’s TinCaps downtown. I most recently held Mayor Henry accountable to the commitments the city made with the developers of the Electric Works project.

Professionally I was in sales for U.S. Foods for over three decades. I got started cutting meat for my dad, Marshall, at Didier Meats and now help my sister at Tim Didier Meats. Every day he works with small businesses across Fort Wayne helping them meet their needs and keeping the local economy moving.

I am a faithful Catholic and enjoys singing at church. Fort Wayne Komets fans know him from singing our National Anthem at many games. He is married to Mary (Gabet) Didier and has three children, Paul, Paige, and Lauren, and a grandson named Colton.
  • I want to implement community-oriented policing. I will do this by bringing in a leadership team that understands reorganizing patrol districts. Under my leadership Fort Wayne's police department will place an emphasis on connecting with members of the community they serve and being in a position to address the priorities of their local neighborhoods and will be evaluated on their success.
  • Empowering neighborhood leaders is critical to steering future growth and preserving unique community identities. Decisions about public infrastructure investments has gradually become more concentrated downtown over the last 16 years, leaving neighborhoods out of the discussion and stifling the development of new leaders. I will restore CEDIT funds distributed by city council for local projects, implement leadership development curriculum for neighborhood leaders and foster challenge grounds to encourage neighborhoods to partner with business districts to market their community more effectively.
  • I wan to reform the existing budget process and move away from the current process which neglect's Fort Wayne's needs. I have fought to reduce our debt and scale back tax increases while serving on city council. I will return every dollar possible to Fort Wayne taxpayers. By moving Fort Wayne to a zero-based budget process every city department will examine what they are doing and why they are doing it. This process provides different options of service levels to help city council members prioritize city services.
I am passionate about connecting with people and solving problems. It is what I did as a salesman for over three decades and is my favorite part of my job on city council. As mayor I want to take that to the next level by enhancing communication and coordination between the city and its residents as well as with other governmental entities we need to work with to improve Fort Wayne.
Working at my father's store when I was 14. After high school I took the trade I learned an worked for the Pio Market in my neighborhood.
That means casting a vision for the direction of our city. We have a great community but there is untapped potential there that cries out for someone who is willing to lead our city to address those challenges. We can grow beyond where we are now, but we need to do it together by moving the entire community forward.
As someone who has served on Fort Wayne's city council for a number of years, I think that council and the mayor need to work together. The council is closest to the residents of our city and should have a a stronger role informing the mayor and his administration on the challenges and priorities of the people they represent so that the they are addressed more effectively. I will have a working relationship with our council members as well as with other local and state leaders who represent Fort Wayne in Indianapolis and Washington, D.C.
