One statewide ballot question was certified for the November 4, 2014 statewide ballot in Texas. It was approved. The measure was a legislatively referred constitutional amendment and was related to transportation. The measure was certified for the ballot on July 30, 2013.

Texas did not have a 2014 legislative session. As of 2014, the southern state did not have an initiative and referendum process; therefore, all ballot measures required referrals through the legislature.


Historical facts

  • Between 1990 and 2013, an average of zero measures appeared on even-numbered year ballots in Texas. Therefore, 2014 was an above-average year, based on the number of certified measures.
  • However, an average of fifteen measures have appeared on odd-numbered election year ballots in Texas since 1991.
