Samuel Bagenstos (Democratic Party) ran for election for judge of the Michigan Supreme Court. Bagenstos lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

The Michigan Supreme Court is officially nonpartisan, but candidates were nominated to the ballot by party convention. Bagenstos was nominated by the Democratic Party.[1]

Bagenstos received his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina in 1989 and his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1993. He has worked as an attorney and law professor, including the Frank G. Millard Professor of Law at the University of Michigan. Bagenstos served as the principal deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights from 2009 to 2011.[2]
