I am a mom, wife, and dedicated public servant who is running for Houston City Council to continue serving the city I love. I have worked on a broad range of city issues including city finances, infrastructure, transportation, housing, and economic development. I've held positions in the housing and community development department, three city council offices, and in the mayor's office working for the city's flood czar. As chief of staff to the chair of the budget and fiscal affairs committee, I became an expert in navigating the city's $5 billion budget. I was heavily involved in Harvey recovery efforts and obtained grant funding to advance green storm water infrastructure initiatives. I assembled and managed a task force to tackle redevelopment and flooding policies, worked with council members to identify neighborhood drainage projects, and led the charge to bring Houston's Adopt-A-Drain Program to life. I worked to alleviate food deserts, led park clean ups, established an annual senior falls prevention event, and advocated for city policy to allow ride sharing companies to operate in Houston. In my work at the housing department, I successfully resolved compliance issues with HUD so federal affordable housing funds were restored to the city. In addition to these accomplishments, I spent her many days at City Hall responding to constituents needing help with city-related matters. I have a BBA in finance from UT-Austin and an MA in public administration from UH.
  • Flooding. We must invest in transformative drainage projects to take people's homes out of harm's way.
  • Transportation. We must make it easier and safer to get around. More transportation options, less congestion, and smoother safer roads.
  • The city needs policies and practices to attract the next generation of Houstonians. Less cement and sprawl, more parks and green space and more vibrant, walkable places.
Flooding, transportation, public safety, making the city greener and more walkable, shoring up city finances, affordable housing.
My parents who gave me all I needed to succeed in life and who taught me a life is not well lived if it doesn't include service to others.
5-year old birthday party - I remember playing musical chairs and being very unhappy when I lost the game!
Merle Norman Cosmetics - summers and holidays during high school.
I feel my experience in government makes me prepared to be an effective leader from the start.
