Sydnee Dickson
Sydnee Dickson is the Utah Superintendent of Public Instruction. Dickson assumed office on February 18, 2016.
Dickson began serving as interim superintendent in January 2016, when former Superintendent Brad C. Smith was on medical leave. She continued serving on an interim basis when Smith resigned on February 17, 2016.[1][2] The Utah State Board of Education later selected Dickson as Smith's permanent replacement on June 23, 2016.[3]
Biography
Before being appointed interim superintendent, Dickson served as the director of teaching and learning with the Utah State Office of Education. She began serving as director in 2007.[4]

Utah Superintendent of Public Instruction (2016 - Present)
Dickson began serving as acting Utah superintendent of public instruction in January 2016 when former superintendent Brad C. Smith went on sick leave. When Smith resigned in February 2016, the Utah State Board of Education named Dickson interim superintendent on February 18, 2016, until a permanent replacement could be named.[1][5][6] After searching for a permanent replacement for former Superintendent Smith, the board unanimously voted to name Dickson the permanent superintendent on June 23, 2016.[3]
