I am Sunny Reddy, a dedicated individual with a diverse background and a deep commitment to various aspects of life and community. My journey began with earning a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University, which laid the foundation for my passion for academic excellence and lifelong learning.

As an entrepreneur, I've been fortunate to found and grow successful businesses in Michigan, contributing to economic development and job creation in our region. My entrepreneurial journey has equipped me with valuable skills in strategic decision-making that I believe can benefit Wayne State University as it navigates future challenges and opportunities.

Family is at the heart of everything I do. My wife, Sirisha, and I have been happily married for 30 years, and raising our daughter, who recently graduated from Yale University, has deepened my appreciation for the transformative power of education and supportive environments.

Beyond business and family, I am deeply committed to philanthropy. Whether raising funds for Covid-19 relief, supporting victims of natural disasters, or aiding families of fallen officers, I am driven by a desire to make a positive impact in our society.

I am honored to have earned endorsements from State Senator Jim Runestad and State Senator Michael Webber, who recognize my integrity, intelligence, and dedication to community service.

• STEM Programs Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are the backbone of progress. Let’s invest in cutting-edge research, modern facilities, and top-notch faculty to propel our STEM programs forward.
• Affordable Education Education should be accessible to all. I’ll work tirelessly to ensure that tuition remains reasonable and that financial aid programs are robust.
• Security on Campus A safe campus is crucial for student success. I’ll collaborate with local law enforcement, community leaders, and students to enhance safety measures and promote a secure environment.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am personally passionate about several areas of public policy that I believe are critical for fostering a thriving society and ensuring equal opportunities for all:

Education: Having benefited from a quality education myself, I am deeply committed to policies that enhance access to education, improve educational outcomes, and support lifelong learning. I believe education is a fundamental driver of social mobility and economic prosperity.

Economic Development and Entrepreneurship: As an entrepreneur who has experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of building businesses, I am passionate about policies that promote economic growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity, Leadership, Accountability.

Integrity: I believe in conducting myself with the utmost integrity, adhering to ethical standards and transparency in all my actions. Integrity is not negotiable—it forms the bedrock of trust between myself and those I serve. By being honest, principled, and accountable for my decisions, I aim to uphold the public's confidence and respect.

Leadership: Leadership to me means more than just making decisions; it involves inspiring others, fostering collaboration, and guiding our community toward shared goals. I strive to lead by example, demonstrating vision, courage, and a commitment to serving the greater good. Effective leadership requires listening to diverse perspectives, making informed choices, and rallying stakeholders around solutions that benefit everyone.

Accountability: As an elected official, I recognize the profound responsibility I have to my constituents. Accountability means being responsive to their concerns, explaining my decisions clearly, and taking ownership of outcomes—whether positive or challenging.
