Steve West (Republican Party) is a member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 27. He assumed office on March 23, 2015. His current term ends on January 1, 2029.

West (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Kentucky State Senate to represent District 27. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Biography

Steve West was born in Paris, Kentucky. He graduated from Grant County High School. West earned a degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a law degree from Northern Kentucky University. His career experience includes working as a realtor with Kirkpatrick and Company, as a real estate attorney, and as a cattle farmer. He has been a member of the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors.[1]

Steve West (R) defeated Kelly Caudill (D) in the special election on March 3.[6][7][8]

The seat was vacant following Walter Blevins' (D) resignation on January 4, 2015, to become judge-executive of Rowan County.[9]

A special election for the position of Kentucky State Senate District 27 was called for March 3. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 13, 2015. Candidates were nominated by parties rather than chosen in primaries.[6]

West was a Republican candidate for District 72 of the Kentucky House of Representatives in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections. West's opponent in the November 2 general election was Democratic incumbent Sannie Overly. According to official results, Overly defeated West by a margin of 8,022 to 4,105.[10]
