Campaign themes
2012
On his campaign website Evans has 2 leading issues that he is concerned about. They are:[4]
- Social Security: Excerpt: "Based on "means testing," retirees with solid pensions, may voluntarily waive immediate receipt of part or all of their social security benefits and transfer those benefits to a designated recipient (say a grandchild) who won't be expected to retire for 40-50 years from now. In other words, using generation skipping-( a standard estate planning tool) the wage earner and retiree would give their Social Security Benefits to their grandchild (ren) or someone else in the skipped generation designated by a Social Security number."
- High Speed Rail: Excerpt: "It would take hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars to create the type of HSR infrastructure that exists in Europe and Japan. And we as a nation would never benefit from this mode of transportation as they have in those countries. I am against any further tax payer funded High Speed Rail development in the United States."
