An effort to recall Regan Watson from the Hamtramck Public Schools Board of Education in Michigan was rejected by the Wayne County Clerk’s Office in February 2025 after recall supporters filed petition signatures. The signatures were dismissed due to "recall language not being identical to what was approved by the Wayne County Election Commission."[1]
The recall petition against Watson was approved to collect signatures in January 2025.[2]

Recall opponents
Watson did not give a reason for her absence from board meetings, but she said she planned to resume attending meetings when asked by a fellow board member in December 2024.[2]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[4][5][6]
To get the recall against Watson on the ballot, recall supporters had to collect approximately 1,200 signatures.[2]
