I pledge to you to be fair, honest and stand against public corruption. Respect people and their problems, with empathy and dignity. Focus on practical solutions. Build a strong economy and fiscal responsibility. Fight policies that cause inflation. People should not have to worry about keeping a roof over their heads. You don't deserve skyrocking costs and decaying infrastructure. When you work hard, you should have a little bit extra to enjoy life a little bit more. Protect our resident's property, Personal safety and keep our towns safe.
Mental health and addictions, transportation regulation, state gov admin. I am a small business owner and trucker. I have been delivering in the logistics and trucking field for over 40 years. As a trucker, I have dealt with many levels of government regulations in the transportation field. Additionally, I have personal experience with addiction and 30 years in the recovery community. With my history, I think I can bring needed personal experience to each one of those committees.
I look up to people that pursue their dreams and execute a path to succeed.
I would like to be like my friend, who died in March of this year. He was over 100 years old at the time, a WW2 vet, B24 pilot and active until the day he died.
Honesty, tell the truth even if it's bad news. Willingness to listen to all sides of the arguments and make decisions that best follow the will of the people that you represent, rather than the party. Open-minded, admitting that you do not know everything. An expert or an affected party may be a good resource to make an informed decision.
Representing those to whom you serve. The people that elected you. Sometimes that may be voting for somethings you personally find to be contrary to your own beliefs
John F. Kennedy's assassination. I believe I was in kindergarten and watched it happen on live TV.
I believe the governor should listen to and assess the representatives' concerns, weigh the issues and concerns of both sides to determine what will benefit the people and the state. The Governor should NOT be the driving force of special interests.
Budget, Budget, Budget. I believe that we must eliminate baseline budgeting, ineffective programs, redundant agencies and wasteful spending. I support zero based budgeting, efficient agency operations, all on lower taxes. All of this will stop the outflow of productive people and businesses and return Illinois to an attractive place to live and do business.
No. I believe it’s better to have citizen representation that does not subscribe to the ”this is the way we’ve always done it” or “we can’t do it this way” and the ever present “you can’t touch this” mentality.
Yes, it’s important to build trust and the ability to talk openly and freely with others.
During this campaign, I have been learning more and more about our community. I hear the growing concerns regarding the cost of living, immigration, and opioids. There are single mothers, retirees, young families, seniors, veterans - you name it - all worried about the always increasing property tax burden that comes with living in Illinois. What really hits me is not the one off stories but rather the repeat stories I hear. The same concerns repeated to me time and time again and nothing is being done to address them. Seniors and young families being taxed out of their homes. Mothers who have lost children to opioids. Families with special needs children who worry they can’t afford the gas to get their kids to school. People forced to wonder if the popping sound they just heard was a firework or a gunshot. All the while new arrivals and non-citizens are arriving in Chicagoland and immediately receive special treatment. Why can they take priority when it comes to receiving government services when our own people are struggling? As I already know and am continuing to learn, the people of the 46th district are hardworking and very generous. I look forward to representing them in the General Assembly.
Yes Yes Yes. The Governor's abuse of his emergency powers was a horrible thing. Illinois law should have been clear that the Governor only had 30 days of emergency powers, but unfortunately it wasn’t. So the Governor exploited the poorly drafted statute and turned its emergency provision into a blank check. However, it was the legislature that completely abdicated its duty to clarify the statute and restore their check on the Governor’s action. Instead, they sat on their hands and did nothing. Illinois’ law remains unchanged to be exploited again.
My first piece of legislation would be to permanently eliminate baseline budgeting. This financial step would certainly send a positive shockwave throughout our economy and government structure. It would force agencies to operate at their true cost and eliminate so much extra bloat. We may not see immediate benefit with this move, but over time, the people of Illinois - who for too long have paid some of the highest taxes in the nation - will get the relief they deserve.
National Federation of Independent Business IL DuPage county Sheriff James Mendrick

There is very little transparency and less accountability in Illinois government. Let's take Dolton's mayor for example. Where is the attorney general? Where is the governor? Where are the elected democrats condemning her actions?
Yes, I do. I personally participated canvasing for signatures for an initiative I believe in. Although we able to get the required number of signatures (a half million). The Illinois super majority quashed it. One of the reasons I'm running is to restore some parity to the state .
