R.J. Palmer
R.J. Palmer II (b. December 15, 1970) is a former Democratic member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 28 from 2001 to 2015. He served as State Senate Minority Leader for the final four years of his tenure.
Palmer served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1999 to 2001.
Biography
Palmer earned his B.A. from Transylvania University and his MBA from Eastern Kentucky University. His professional experience includes working as an account representative for Central Kentucky Corrugated Specialists and as vice president of Central Bank, Winchester.

Elections for the Kentucky State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent R. J. Palmer II ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Ralph Alvarado ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Alvarado defeated Palmer in the general election.[1][2][3]

Palmer defeated Republican candidate Ralph Alvarado by a margin of 18,876 to 16,940 in the November 2 general election.[4]
In the May 18 primary election, Palmer defeated Ryan Dotson by a margin of 6,705 to 14,575.[5]

On November 7, 2006, Palmer was re-elected to the 28th District seat in the Kentucky State Senate. He had no opposition.[6] Palmer raised $30,900 for his campaign.[7]
