I am a 25 year resident of Alpharetta, Georgia, a wife and a mom of two children, both of whom have been educated in the public school system. I believe the government should work for the people it is intended to serve. I also believe elected officials have the inherent obligation to represent their constituents, not lobbyists or special interest groups. Nor should they be most concerned about their own political career or the wishes of their party. Once elected to office, I will work tirelessly to get things done, working cooperatively with all colleagues, listening to constituents, and using my passion and advocacy to bring about progress for all people of Georgia.
  • Healthcare access and affordability are huge issues in Georgia. I have spent many years working with childhood cancer nonprofits, and have seen far too many parents go broke and even declare bankruptcy simply because they did whatever they could to save their child’s life. This happens even with so-called "good insurance". Fixing this will be a top priority for me. We need to end the surprise billing that bankrupts family budgets and expand Medicaid, so every Georgian can see a doctor when needed. I will bring providers and patients together to re-envision the cost of healthcare so it works for all of us. I will also always defend a woman's right to make her own reproductive healthcare decisions, without government involvement.
  • Given the importance and incredible impact teachers have on our lives, they should not have to go outside of their profession in order to make a good wage – or, worse, outside the state. Georgia can lead the way in the effort to support these professionals by paying a fair wage and providing advancement opportunities, thereby attracting and retaining the best and most dedicated to the schools in our state. I will always fight for our educators and our children’s future.
  • Gun violence has become a public health crisis in our country and the number one cause of death for children and teens in Georgia. 80% of Americans, including responsible gun owners, want common sense gun laws, which have been proven to significantly lessen the incidence of gun violence and gun related deaths. Georgians are no exception in their support for these laws. I have been fighting this battle for years and will continue to work to ensure the safety of Georgians.
I am most concerned about public policy as it relates to the issues I have previously mentioned - healthcare affordability and accessibility, education, and safety.
I am also a staunch advocate for equality and equal opportunity, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or religion. We have got to do better when it comes to non-discriminatory practices.
