Patty Contreras has always had a desire to serve her community. Having recently retired from the City of Phoenix after 31 years, where she worked in the Parks and Recreation and Human Services departments, she wants to jump back in to help her state and community on a greater level.

Patty has lived in Arizona her whole life and has lived in the Phoenix area for over 40 years. She knows her community and the struggles Arizonans face now, and will be a voice for all of us. She will be a strong advocate for education, our environment, and our senior citizens.

  • We only have one environment and unfortunately it's not being protected like it should. I will work with environmental scientists and water conservationists to protect our state and to make sure that generations to come have adequate water and land to live on.
  • Education is such a critical part of our community yet we are the lowest in per pupil funding in the entire country. We need to return funding to all aspects: our students, our teachers and staff, and our buildings. I have been at the Capital with Save Our Schools and Arizona Education Association to fight for our schools and I will continue to do so once elected.
  • For over 25 years I provided services and resources for senior citizens through the City of Phoenix. I will continue to be a voice in the house for our seniors by ensuring they can age in place and have the best in-home care.
I will protect our voting rights in the state legislature. I have volunteered as a Poll Watcher and for Election Protection in previous elections to make sure that everyone who is eligible to vote has the opportunity to vote. As a poll watcher, my job was to ensure that everyone who wanted to vote had the opportunity to cast their ballot regardless of their political affiliation. I also kept an eye out for anyone who might try to deter voters from getting to their polling place. It is not hyperbole to say that our democracy is at the tipping point, but I have and will continue to fight for everyone's right to a safe and secure voting process.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arizona

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Arizona scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
