Nancy Skinner (California)
Nancy Skinner (Democratic Party) was a member of the California State Senate, representing District 9. She assumed office in 2016. She left office on December 2, 2024.
Skinner (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the California State Senate to represent District 9. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Skinner's professional experience includes serving on the Berkeley City Council from 1984 to 1992. She founded Cities for Climate Protection and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives-Local Governments for Sustainability. As of 2014, Skinner was a member of the Community Conservation Centers Incorporated Board and the David Brower Center Board.[1]

Elections for the California State Senate took place in 2016. The primary election was held on June 7, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was February 25, 2016, for candidates filing with signatures. The deadline for candidates using a filing fee to qualify was March 11, 2016.[2] Incumbent Loni Hancock (D) did not seek re-election.

Skinner won re-election in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 15. She was displaced from her current district by redistricting. She ran unopposed in the primary on June 5, 2012, and won election unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012, as well.[7][8][9]

Skinner won re-election to the 14th District seat in 2010. She had no opposition in the June 8 primary. She defeated Republican Ryan Hatcher in the November 2 general election.[10]
