At a time when the name Alice Cooper was still synonymous with depravity, reporter Bob Greene joined the band on tour and unwittingly witnessed the final days of the original group, which was being torn apart due to strains from constant touring, petty jealousies and rampant alcoholism.
Just as the book was going to press, the group disbanded, and frontman Alice went solo, reinventing his image both on the record and through various TV and movie appearances, culminating with a campy cameo in "Wayne's World."
