At times i really wondered about this story. If this tells us how Section 9 was found, why didn't it add up with the insight-episodes on the past of the characters in SAC? It felt more like some wierd Reboot instead of the original story of the Section.

Meanwhile, bits of the past of the members of this new Public Security organization, Section 9, begin to surface.

An interesting premise to the real GitS series (watch those four movies and then the last two episodes of "Koukaku Kidoutai Arise: Alternative Architecture"): highly recommended!

A nice kind of prequel to the Stand Alone Complex series. If you loved the old one, I'm sure you will enjoy Arise too.

Not really a GitS fan, but still I feel this series has some pretty strong cyberpunk elements in it. Though I am not really a GitS fan, I am very much into cyberpunk and really enjoy it, though some of the terms and explanation does run wild pretty fast.
As for the action, it does pack some intense fights - but honestly I felt the animation could have been better. That aside from the pretty futuristic and funky intro and outro (that I felt Dentsu had some hand on it).
Overall, its a good watch if you are into cyberpunk and want some action. Or if you are a GitS fan.

this is mandatory for all GitS fans. if you are new to the franchise i don't think watching this first makes any difference.

Only for die-hard fans of GitS franchise. These four movies show you the origin of Section 9, give you a fair amount of action and cyberpunk. Otherwise the main series are far superior.

Fairly boring first episode, it tells the story of Kusanagi before she joins section 9. The action scenes, animation and music were all good however I found the arc kind of dull to watch. It certainly set the foundations for something amazing in the next few episodes so on that basis I would recommend it. GiTS fans will certainly enjoy this a lot more than newcomers.
