this movie scared the hell out of me as a kid, and it still does. i still can't watch ANY zombie movie and not get scared. i got scared watching 'shaun of the dead' and that is supposed to be a comedy. but of all the zombie movies i have seen, this one is definitely the best.
if it wasn't for this movie horror movies would not be what they are today.

I always wanted to see this movie. It was a great idea,but why do they always make people so unbelievably stupid! The black guy didnt want anyone to go into the basement,but in the end runs down there himself. The uptight white guy was the one right in the end,and he gets murdered,while the only one who survives is the one who for some insane reason,demanded everyone make a stand in a place you could see through the windows in. Why didnt they use the gas pump nossle like a flame thrower? Any idiot would have thought of that! I really started questioning this movies point when even the blonde girl gets killed! Why didnt he just grab her arm and run to the basement? In the end he was responsable for them all dying! In the very last sequence,even he gets it! What is the point in any of this? That last bit with the good ol boys plugging the black man in the window seemed racist,and didnt seem to fit in at all. The whole idea was great though,and was scary at times. I was realy dissapointed in the story though,but loved the news sequences and the flesh eating zombies. Why do they show them affraid of light at night,but walking around just fine durring the day? A glaring error! I still enjoyed it.

Hulu you tried to cut me off but it didn't work. This was a great movie. The characters were realistic and the storyline was excellent, even for an old movie. There was plenty of action and adventure. Well done. For an oldie. Oh it was free and I could hear most of it.

Night of the Living Dead started the whole "zombie" genre. Without this movie, horror films would not be like what they are today. I LOVE this movie. :D

Not bad for 1968. I liked how the Sheriff handled the situation . "Ok boys that's another one for the fire".. The people trapped, however were useless. Thinking they got what they deserved. This movie was more a comedy than anything else. At least I had a few laughs, especially when they are about to get eaten and they are fighting amongst themselves.

The remake is more fun to watch, though the original is a little bit more "realistic" if such a thing is possible. Also, it's really cool that the zombies are afraid of light in this version.
